Aisling
 0 – 1 Granville

Shane O'Hanlon's reign as Granville manager got the perfect start on Sunday morning when they secured an unlikely win over a fancied Aisling Annacotty. One goal separated the sides at the end of 90 minutes and it came form Ollie Kenny when he poked home in the box from a Philip Clancy free kick. Some stout defending followed by Granville with new signings Stuart Byrnes and Thomas Hehir showing up well. Aisling had to field without a number of regular starters but that is not to take from the impressive win by our A team.

New format in place for the coming season

It was announced at the LDSL Annual General meeting on Friday last that a new format will be introduced for the 2008/09 season. This new format will see the playing season broken into two sections. The u12, 14, 16 grades will commence playing in late August, and will continue to its completion by the middle of December. S.F.A.I National cup games will be played during this period. At this stage local fixtures will be cancelled until late January and will resume with the playing of the u11,u13,u15 grades. When midweek football resumes in late March the u12,u14,u16 local cups will be played.

SFAI National Cups

The following changes were introduced for this seasons National cup competitions. From round one an open draw in the region stages of the cups will be in operation. Clubs will have only one chance to play their home game. If a teams home ground is unplayable and unless they can come up with an alternative ground on the day the game will automatically revert to their opponents ground. The first four regional rounds of the competition must be completed by December.
