One of the events in Granville's yearly calendar is
the Michael O'Sullivan 7 aside Tournament which is
now in its 23rd year and possibly the longest
running in the city. For the past 2 year the
tournament was run in Villiers College due to
essential drainage works which have been done on our
pitches. This year we returned to our own ground at
Glenbrook. The pitches looked immaculate and our new
Clubhouse was near completion. All club registered
boys/girls ageing between 4 and 11 years of age were
eligible to play. The numbers surpassed other years
when 75 budding players donned their boots. The
players were divided into 8 teams and played a round
robin. The winning team was Barcelona, but the day
was more about participation and enjoying the game of football that we all love.
Its great to see small players following the ball
and wishing its passed too them so they can
score that important goal for their team.
The Limerick Post photographer also turned up on
the day and a full spread of photos were printed in
their paper. Below are a selection of photos that were taken by
my self and hopefully I've captured a future League of
Ireland player or better still playing for one of the
big English clubs.
