Aisling B 0 Granville 7
Christian Kerley 3, Niall McNamara
3, Kieran Bennett.
Granville u12 made the short trip last Saturday
morning out to Killonan and maintained their
unbeaten run. Granville were too strong on the day
as put seven past Aisling without reply. The game
was a total one sided affair, within the first
minute of play Aislings net minder made an excellent
save to deny Niall McNamara the opening goal. As the
game settled Granville ripped the home side apart
with a brace a piece from Christian Kerley and Niall
McNamara, On the return Niall McNamara scored the
first hatrick of the day with a sweet volley from a
through ball from James Walsh. Minutes later it was
Christians Kerley turn for a hatrick as he cut the
defence apart from a neat pass from Adam Richardson.
Aisling did however have a couple of chances
but Granville's keeper Owen Kiely made a few good
saves when called into action to keep a clean sheet.
The final goal was a cracker with three players
involved, with the Aisling defence in disarray Craig
Byrne passed a daisy cutter to Luke Byrnes who in
turn with a beautiful flick into the advancing
Kieran Bennett and hit a pile driver into top
corner. With 2 players on hatricks the
unforgotten heroes are usually the defenders and man
of the match has to be Dylan Bourke as he mopped up
the defence with stern accuracy.

Last Saturday was the perfect day for football.
The spell of good weather had the spectators up at
Glenbrook to cheer on their teams. The visitors this
week to Granville's grounds were Pike Rovers. With
the game only started Pike were awarded a fee kick
at the edge of the box. Shane Walsh made no mistake
from that range to give Pike an early lead. However
within 5mins our u12 were back on level terms
when Dylan Kirkland smashed the ball into the net.
As the game progressed we took control and when
Dylan Kirkland turned provider and passed a great
ball into the path of Christian Kerley volleyed a
screamer into bottom corner. On the stroke of half
time Granville got the cushion they needed when
Shane McNamara hit a cracker as he lopped the keeper
from the edge of the square. On the resumption
Granville again pushed forward and from a Jeffrey
Coyne throw, Niall McNamara controlled the ball and
his shot went in of the post. With the points in the
bag Granville introduced their subs. To give great
credit to Pike Rovers they battled away to the final
whistle but not before Christian Kerley who turned
out an excellent performance scored his second of
the day. Other players to turn out excellent
performances for our u12 team on the day were
midfield duo Shane McNamara and James Walsh, and the
partnership of Eoin McDonnell and Dylan O'Byrne.

Hyde Rangers made
the short trip to Glenbrook last Monday evening and
took an unexpected lead from a free kick 3 minutes
into the game. Granville were back on level terms 2
mins later when Niall McNamara raced after a loose
ball and rounded the keeper to shoot into an empty
net. Minutes later Dylan Kirkland punished the
keeper for coming off his line with a lovely shot
into bottom corner. From there on in the game was a
one sided affair as Niall McNamara ripped Hyde apart
and accounted for 5 of Granville's goals. On the
stroke of half time the home side had a comfortable
4 goal margin. On the resumption Granville kept the
tempo up and again keep Hyde pressed in their own
half for long periods of time. Lee Gleeson received
a long ball from James Walsh and raced round the
defence to hit a daisy cutter into the net. Hyde had
no sooner centered off when Niall McNamara scored
his 5th goal before being substituted. On the 45
minute, Christian Kerley was no sooner off the bench
when he darted from midfield and punished the
defence with his blistering pace and get his first
goal for Granville. With less than 5 minutes
remaining Hyde with awarded a penalty. Granville's
net minder Owen Kiely made a brilliant finger tip
save to deny the Hyde a consolation second goal.
Incidentally this is the second game in succession
Owen has saved a penalty kick. Other players to play
well on the day were Craig Byrne, Jeffrey Coyne,
Dylan Bourke and Luke Byrnes.

took the lead mid way in the first half. James
Walsh hit a high ball into the path of the
advancing Dylan Kirkland and with his first
touch hit a rocked into the net.Granville
dominated most of the half and were enjoying a
good spell when Dylan Kirkland hit another great
shot and was denied by the cross bar.On the
resumption Shannon Town came close and it looked
as if they got a break when awarded a penalty.
Owen Kiely the Granville net minder made a
brilliant save to hold onto the slim lead.
Minutes later however Shannon Town equalized
from a free when Granville failed to clear the
lines. Granville again pushed forward in numbers
looking for the winner when Christian Kerley
beat the defence and slotted the ball into the
net only to be ruled off side. As the final
whistle loomed Dylan Kirkland long pass to Niall
McNamara went just wide off the post to give
Shannon a share of the spoils.

the next stage of the cup with an easy win over
Corbally last Friday evening. We held a
comfortable 3-1 lead going into the break. Niall
McNamara opened the scoring, Adam Richardson hit a
daisy cutter and Dylan Bourke lopped the keeper from
20 yards. On the resumption Granville finished the
game off with a flurry of goals through Dylan
Kirkland and Lee Gleeson both tapped in from close
range. Niall Mc Namara hit two more for his hatrick.
Christopher Collopy who was having a fine game was
unlucky not to be on the score sheet.

Hyde
1 - 1 Granville
Granville title hopes took a set back last
Wednesday evening when they were away to Hyde
Rangers. Both teams scored on either side of the
half to play out a one all draw. Hyde started the
brighter and kept pumping high balls into Granville
half and eventually scored. The second half
Granville started to play some lovely football and
pushed forward with every opportunity. Hyde started
to give away plenty of frees but the Ref never
maintained a steady flow in the game and kept
holding up play for long periods of time. Mid way in
the game Niall McNamara was taken down in the box
and awarded a penalty, again the Ref held up
play and his positioning to stand while the peno was
taken was a lot to be desired. The resulting spot
kick came off the cross bar and the rebound was
saved by the keeper. As the time ticked away Adam
Richardson who was having a great game at left back
hit a long ball into the path of Jamie McNamara who
raced down the wing and let fly with a thundering
shot from 30 yards into the box and some how evaded
the defence and rolled into the net. As Granville
got back on level terms they pushed forwards for the
winner as Kieran Bennett and Eoin McDonnell took
control of midfield but it was too little too late
as the final whistle was blown and two vital points
were lost.

Granville
8 - 1 Corbally
4/4/08
League leaders Granville increased their lead at
the top of the table with this comprehensive home
win over strugglers Corbally United. Niall McNamara
was man of the match with four goal to his name as
he ran riot and scored a hatrick within the first
15mins, incidentally this was his 4th hatrick of the
season. Minutes later Dylan Kirkland slotted into
the net from close range as the long ball was fed
into the box by Kieran Bennett.
Granville made a few substitutions on the turn of
the half and it looked as if Corbally were going to
make a contest of the game after reducing the
margin. This however was short lived as Dylan Bourke
scored a brace to put the points in the bag. As the
minutes ticked away Niall McNamara scored his fourth
of the evening. As the Ref looked at his watch
there was still time for one last goal as Eoin Mc
Donnell raced from midfield and hit a wonder goal
from 20yrds out into bottom corner to leave
the keeper stranded. To be fair the score line does
not reflect how well Corbally played but it was the
Granville defenders, Shane McNamara, Lee Gleeson,
Adam Richardson, Dylan O' Byrne and Eoin Mc Donnell
who were outstanding throughout.

Regional United B 0 - 9 Granville
1/3/08
After a one sided affair, a rampant Granville put
nine past a weak Regional side. Having dominated the
opening half goals from the McNamara brothers
Niall and Shane and a terrific goal from Jeffrey
Coyne had the points in safe keeping at the break as
they held a commanding three goal advantage.
On the resume of the second half Christopher
Collopy scored after a great pass from Lee Gleeson
who had an outstanding game but failed to get on the
score board. Regional were always back peddling as
Granville kept them pinned in their own half .Within
a 5 minute period another 3 goals were added when
Niall McNamara smashed home his second after a
sloppy goal kick. Christopher Collopy and Shane
McNamara added another goal to their name for a
brace each. To be fair Regional never gave up
and played to the final whistle, but at that stage
Granville had already chalked up two more goals.
Adam Richardson sent in a high ball from a corner
kick and Niall McNamara whipped the ball into the
back of the net to score his hat-trick. As the game
came to a close, again it was Lee Gleeson whose good
thinking, side footed the ball into the path of
Dylan Bourke who rounded the keeper and slotted into
a empty net.

Granville
0 - 3 Shannon Town
16/2/08
With over 2 months without a league game our
title hopes took a battering last Saturday morning
when we were home to Shannon Town. Missing a few
players in key areas the team never came to life and
at half time we were 1 nil down when Shannon's Brian
O'Connor shot was drilled under our net minder Owen
Kiely.
In the second period we had a few half chances to
equalise with some good play from Adam Richardson
and Lee Gleeson but the game was over by a contest
when Darragh King doubled his sides account. It
looked as if things couldn't get any worse for
us when a half cleared ball caused a lot of
confusion is the 6 yard box and the ref pointed to
the spot but luckily the penalty was drove over the
bar. With minutes remaining Eoin Ryan hit goal
number 3 for the visitors to give them three
valuable point and bring them back into contention.
Granville now need to recover from this loss and
get back to winning ways.

Granville 5 - 0 Hyde
8/12/08
Last Saturday morning we were home for the second
time this season and coasted to a much easier than
expected win over a gallant Hyde. Despite a gusty
performance from the visitors Granville were in
control from the off and within minutes scored their
first goal of the day. Nathan Brereton who beat the
off side trap hit a driving ball into the box which
was met by the advancing Dylan Kirkland who slotted
home from close range. Throughout the first half
both teams seemed evenly matched and as it came to a
close Hyde came looking for the equaliser and could
easily have levelled but for good defending by the
back four who marshalled the 18yrd box like
soldiers. Going into the break Granville were the
happier team leading by the odd gaol,
From the restart Granville got out of the blocks
quicker as Niall McNamara scored a brace to put the
game well out of Hyde's reach and at that point the
result was never in doubt. With a 3 goal cushion the
home side made a double substitution bringing on
Martin Dinan and Christopher Collopy. The home side
never let up and kept plugging away at Hyde when
Shane McNamara beat the defence only to be denied by
the net minder. From the kick out the ball again
came to Shane who lobbed the defence and the quick
thinking of Christopher Collopy who raced into the
box and drove his thundering shot into the back of
the net. With minutes remaining Granville's
second sub Martin Dinan hit a beautiful volley into
the top corner to round off the scoring. To be fair,
Hyde had a few half chances throughout the game and
could easily have got their name on the scorecard.
This win keeps them level on top of the table with
Coonagh.
