3/5/08
Granville 4 – 1 Aisling  3/5/08
Niall McNamara, Kieran Bennett 2, Adam Richardson,

Granville were unlucky to be a goal down at the break after a lot of possession. On the turn Granville net-minder came off injured and an unexpected player to take the mantle between the posts was Dylan Bourke. Granville slowly came into the game and levelled through Niall McNamara. Kieran Bennett moved from defence to midfield and scored a brace within 5 minutes one of his goals was a volley from 35 yards into top corner to put the us in front. With 5 minutes remaining Dylan Bourke was called into action as took off  2 great saves one after another to deny Aisling. Granville then broke after a long kick out and Adam Richardson raced down the wing and he cut back inside and hit a swirling ball into the net.

30/4/08
U12 League Cup Div 1
Joseph O’Loughlin, Niall McNamara x 2, Dylan Kirkland, Lee Gleeson x 2.

Our  u12s advanced to the semi final of the cup with an easier than expected win over a Corbally side. Joseph O’Loughlin opened the scoring with a well taken goal and Niall McNamara with a brace has the away side on the racks at the half. Granville scored a further three goals through super-sub Lee Gleeson with a brace and Dylan Kirkland lobbing the net-minder to finish off a great performance.

23/4/08
Granville 5 - 2 Coonagh

As the last few games come thick and fast Granville u12s turn out another great performance in Glenbrook. No sooner had game kicked off Niall McNamara had the ball in the back of the net as Coonagh trailed. As the game settled and chances came a begging Adam Richardson slotted home another for the home side but Coonagh reduced the deficit to trail by the odd goal at the half.  On the resumption Granville upped the tempo and scored two more through Dylan Kirkland and Glenn Richardson with a blistering shot into top corner. As the home side settled knowing they had the points in the bag Coonagh scored their second of the evening. With the game going into the final few minutes Niall McNamara scores again to finish off  an excellent performance all round.

18/4/08
Granville 2 - 1 Geraldines

On Friday evening Granville entertained Geraldines at Glenbrook. Both teams started brightly but it was the away side who opened the scoring when the defence failed to clear the ball form a corner. As the opening half came to a close Granville were unlucky to be trailing by the odd goal. On the resumption Granville took the game to Geraldines, Lee Gleeson ran down the flanks and hit a swirling ball into the path of Dylan Kirkland who fired home form close range. As Granville played five across midfield they challenged for every ball and started to win the battle as the game started to open up. Joseph O' Loughlin who was having a great game in midfield hit the ground with a late challenge. As Dylan Bourke stepped up he spotted a void in Geraldines defence and hit a swirling ball into Niall McNamara who pushed the ball past the keeper as he advanced off his line. In the last few minutes Geraldines could easily have got back on level terms but for Granville Stalwart Dylan O'Byrne who never puts a foot wrong kept the runners at bay.

12/4/08
Granville 1 - 4 Pike

Last Friday evening our u12 were home to Pike Rovers unfortunately things never went right from the start. Due to one reason or another the we fielded a weak team and without our normal netminder one of the out field players had to go between the posts. When Pike centred off and with 3 passes the ball it was in the back of our net. The team were shocked for a few minutes but gradually picked them selves up and got on level terms after Niall McNamara whipped the ball into the box from the end line and Adam Richardson slotted home from 6 yards. Pike again took the lead and were three up at the break. Pike were always in control of this game and for long periods had Granville on the racks. Late in the game we conceded an own goal to finish off a miserable match..

7/4/08
Aisling  2 - 2 Granville Rangers

Granville u12 were away last Monday night to bottom of the table side Aisling. However even though Granville went in at the break with a one goal advantage thanks to a well taken shot by Adam Richardson Aisling were unlucky to be trailing. On the turn of the break the home side pushed forward for the equaliser and with some good passing eventually scored through Derry Griffin. Minutes later Granville gained their one goal advantage when again Granville hero on the night Adam Richardson got his second. A Granville throw was flicked on by Niall McNamara into the path on the advancing Adam Richardson who smashed  his powerful shot into the path of the advancing Aisling player who deflected into his own net. As the game ebbed away Aisling left them selves exposed at the back as they tried to get back to parity. Granville should have killed the game but Aisling netminder Ronan Phelan was exceptional and kept them in the game. In the last few minutes Aislings  Conor Hackett scored the best goal off the night when he lobbed Nathan Brereton from 20 yards to square up the tie at  two two.

5/4/08
Coonagh 2 - 3 Granville Rangers

Granville who were away last Saturday afternoon to Coonagh United were unlucky to go in at the break a goal down having dominated much of the first half. On the restart Granville again had good possession but failed to take advantage. Coonagh  always looked threatening on the attack went two up when our net-minder misread a shot which ended up in the back of the net.
With ten minutes remaining Niall McNamara reduced the deficit after some great play by Lee Gleeson. As the time ticked away Niall McNamara put us on level terms again it was Lee Gleeson who was the provider. It looked as if both teams were going to get a share of the spoils as the game went into the dying seconds. The post came to Granville rescue but this team has shown in the last few games never to give up. Jake O' Shea hit a long ball into the path of Adam Richardson whose shot was saved again by the post however Niall McNamara who was on hand smashed the rebound into the back of the net for his hatrick.

Last Wednesday we were home to Newport and missing a few of our players we went down heavily with a four one score line.
Our lone scorer on the night was Kieran Bennett.

 8/3/08
Corbally United 2 - 6 Granville Rangers

Granville picked up their second successive league points in a row with an away win to league strugglers Corbally Utd. Weather conditions were not favourable for either side as the wind cut through the Athlunkard pitch. Granville however went in at the break with a two goal advantage after Jake O'Shea opened the scoring when his bullet of a shot went in off the post and Niall McNamara scored from close range.

On resumption of the half  Corbally had a great chance to reduce the deficit but their effort was cleared off the line by centre half  Eoin McDonnell. Granville upped the tempo and some neat passing between the midfielders Dean Phillips and Joseph O' Loughlin linked up with Dylan Kirkland who scored with an easy tap in. Three minutes later Niall McNamara made it four and at this stage Granville made a few substitutions. With ten minutes remaining Corbally clawed two goals back, this was short lived as Niall McNamara went on a solo run and beat a couple of players to score his hatrick. As the game came to a close Thomas Joyce side footed the ball to Adam Richardson who shot from close range but his effort was blocked by the Corbally keeper however Adam got another chance and blasted the ball into the net to round off the scoring.

23/2/08
Mungret Regional  2 - 3 Granville Rangers

Granville, who were the visitors against title hopefuls Mungret played possibly their best game of the season and caused the shock of the day. It was Granville who settled quickly into their stride as Jake O'Shea  and company had the defence back peddling  in the early stages of the game. Niall McNamara who scored a brace was a constant thorn in the Mungrets side, got his first goal when the home side failed to clear. Minutes later Mungret's net minder made the best save of the day when Niall McNamara's bullet of a shot from 16 yards out was goal bound when the goalie managed to get his finger tips to it and sent it  out for a corner.

At the restart of the half it was Mungret who came out fighting and within minutes were two one up and it looked as if it was curtains for Granville having played a lot of the second period in their own half. Granville never gave up and when Adam Richardson was fouled on the edge of the penalty box it was Dean Phillips who came up to take the free. Dean's shot was saved by the keeper but the ball spilled out of his hands and over the line. This error seemed to have upset Mungret and gave a life line to Granville as they pushed forward for the winner. As the remaining minutes started to count down a long ball into the box by Eoin McDonnell was flicked forward by Dylan Kirkland and into the path of the advancing Niall McNamara who made no mistake as his shot hit top corner.

Team.
Owen Kiely, Lee Gleeson, Eoin McDonnell, Dylan O'Byrne, Thomas Joyce, Dean Phillips,
Niall McNamara, Jake O'Shea capt. Dylan Kirkland, Adam Richardson, Ryan Bourke.
