Corbally 6- 1 Granville
Craig
Bromell
Our u7s went
down heavily to a very strong Corbally side. The
home side started the brighter and were three up
before Granville were on the score sheet through
Craig Bromell. Corbally controlled the game from
start to finish and were gallant winners as they
pushed past a very weak Granville team on the night
with a 6–1 score line.

Granville 4 – 1 Hyde Rangers
Our u7 entertained Hyde Rangers last Tuesday evening
at Glenbrook and produced a great performance to get
their first win of the season with a 4:1 score line
15/4/08
Granville 1 – 3 Newport
At a
sunny Glenbrook our U7s took on strong Newport side.
Granville got stuck in right from the kick off and
Craig Bromell was unlucky to see his effort just
miss the post. After a strong run by Eoin Maher the
ball fell to Robbie Noonan who hit a tremendous shot
into the arms of the Newport keeper. A quick break
by Newport resulted in their forward one on one with
Granville Keeper Conor Myers who narrowed the angle
perfectly and brought off a finger tip save to deny
Newport the lead. Granville kept pressing with Harry
Coyne raiding down the left wing combining well with
Jack Delaney. Against the run of Play Newport struck
with a fortuitous goal after a series of ricochets
from a corner the ball somehow ended up in the
Granville net. This setback spurred Granville into
action and they produced their best football of the
game so far.Adam Kiely was a rock at the back
stopping attack after attack, Dean McMahon linked
well with Adam Healy who was buzzing around the
pitch showing great pace. On the stroke of half time
Granville struck for the equaliser with a great move
involving Harry Coyne and Robbie Noonan who worked
the ball to Craig Bromell who unleashed a fierce
drive to the back of the net.
The second half began much the same as the first
ended with Granville pressing for the lead ,Great
play by Zara Daly and Luke McNamara almost ended up
in a goal for David Bourke but his effort somehow
stayed out. Zoe Moore and Peter Myers began to get
on the ball and put pressure on Newport then
disaster struck as Granville were left exposed at
the back after a dubious decision by the referee who
up until then was having a fine match. Despite
protests from the large home support and coach the
referee played on after an obvious free to Granville
and Newport scored their second following another
great point blank save from Conor Myers the rebound
fell to a Newport shirt who finished accurately.
With new boy Cian White introduced Granville pressed
for the equaliser but it was Newport who added No 3
to finish the game off with a great move that had
Granville finishing on the wrong end of a 3-1
scoreline. A great performance by all the players
was acknowledged by the large crowd as the ref blew
the full time whistle.

Geraldines 3 – 1 Granville
Granville u7 played their first match of the season
below in Garryowen Green. Geraldines who were the
stronger team on the evening went in at the break
two up. On resume of the half parents from both
sides yelled encouragement to all the players.
However it was again Geraldines who started the
stronger as they slotted home to go three up. In the
final ten mins Granville players finally got the
upper hand and on numerous occasions could easily
half reduced the deficit only for the home side net
minder who was having a great game. As Granville
were enjoying their good spell some great passing by
David Bourke and Craig Bromell in midfield. A long
ball was pushed into the path of Jack Delaney and he
scored a great goal when he smashed the ball into
the Geraldines net. Minutes later a Granville corner
taken by Harry Coyne was put into the box, in came
running Robbie Noonan who shot was heading goal
bound but some how again the home side net minder
put in an excellent save.
